Exploring New Orleans

Virtual Expedition

Students in Mr. Aiman Bayoumi’s World Geography class recently participated in a Google Map Street View activity.  The students were virtually dropped off in the middle of nowhere in New Orleans.  From there, they were asked to travel to several New Orleans landmarks such as the Superdome, WWII Museum, Café du Monde, Roosevelt Hotel, etc.  The President of each group drove the group to the required destinations and the other group members helped the President navigate through the city by using Google Map Directions/Route mode.  Upon arriving at their destinations, they were asked to research the history and significance of that particular landmark before moving on to the next one.  The group that reached its final destination (Roosevelt Hotel) first received a reward.
